The all-new “Beastie Boys Story” documentary is coming to Apple TV+ in April after a limited release in IMAX Theaters. Apple announced the nonfiction film that tells the inside story of the hip-hop group from the perspective of members Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz. “Beastie Boys Story” is based on the bestseller Beastie Boys Book....

After more than a year, Apple has updated the videos shown on the Aerial screensaver available on the fourth-generation Apple TV. The rotation of clips of landmarks and places has not changed since tvOS launched … until today. Apple has added about twenty new clips of famous landmarks and places, including Dubai skyscrapers, Greenland snowscapes and the Liwa desert. All the new videos linked below … In addition to the 34 clips that have been in the rotation since the launch of tvOS, Apple has added a myriad of new cities and countries — with breathtaking videography of Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Greenland, Dubai, and three new videos of Chinese landmarks....

While I personally find the iPhone X notch almost unnoticeable much of the time, and cute when it’s visible, others have been more critical. There have been complaints that it’s asymmetrical and un-Apple-like in its design, and even that it ‘ruins’ the display. But Apple VP Greg Joswiak has defended it as one of the company’s most impressive technical achievements … Quoted in Tom’s Guide, Joswiak said that the focus should be on everything it achieves....

Apple Wallet and Apple Pay have gradually expanded to additional stadiums, events, and more over the last several years. Today, college athletics ticketing service Paciolan announced that it is adding support for Apple Wallet, allowing fans to enter football games using their iPhone or Apple Watch. Starting with this year’s college football season, select universities will offer contactless tickets for iPhone and Apple Watch. At launch, those schools include Baylor University, Louisiana State University, Michigan State University, University of Mississippi, Georgia Tech, and Rutgers University....

The war between Apple and Samsung on the patent front seems to never end…and it is about to get worse. Cupertino-based Apple filed a motion late Friday afternoon against South Korean-based Samsung, asking for another $707 million in damages on top of the $1.05 billion it was awarded in late August. Apple said it wants “$400 million damage award for design infringement by Samsung; $135 million for willful infringement of its utility patents; $121 million in supplemental damages based on Samsung’s product sales not covered in the jury’s deliberation; and $50 million of prejudgment interest on damages through December 31,” reported Reuters....

Apple Watch shipments grew 22% in 2018, according to new Counterpoint Research data, and a large chunk of that appears to have been due to the popularity of the Series 4. The company says that the Apple Watch Series 4 was the best-selling model during 2018 despite being available for just one quarter … The data is from Counterpoint’s Global Smartwatch Tracker. Apple’s share of the smartwatch market is gradually shrinking as the number of players increases, it says, but the Cupertino company still dominates the market with a 37% market share....

Netflix has acquired the rights to stream Studio Ghibli movies, but will they be available worldwide? Netflix has a variety of content for all ages and tastes, and even though it adds new movies and TV shows every week, not all of them are available worldwide. With the streaming wars heating up as more and more subscription services arrive, acquiring the rights to stream popular titles has become a battle, prompting users to subscribe to different platforms in order to have access to as many movies and shows as possible....

Last night, we rounded up a handful of complaints from 2016 MacBook Pro users related to the device’s new keyboard. While there are a variety of complaints presented on Apple’s Support website and other websites, the comments on our post were interesting. Following in the footsteps of the Disney Stores, Walt Disney World will be accepting Apple Pay from 24th December, reports the company. Disney was an Apple Pay launch partner, installing upgraded iBeacons and NFC readers in its retail stores prior to the launch of the service, but contactless payment had previously only been available at WDW via the company’s own MagicBands wristbands … Initially, most stores, quick service restaurants, bars and ticket sales booths will be included....

The adventures of Batman’s butler will continue as EPIX has renewed Pennyworth for season 2. The alt-history prequel series focuses on a young Alfred Pennyworth in the days following his retirement from the British SAS, and as he finds himself and his family embroiled in a complicated plot to overthrow the government in 1960s London. Alfred is joined in his adventures by his new employer, Thomas Wayne, who is not yet the father of the man who will become one of the most iconic superheroes of all time....

On the data and power side, Google’s USB-C lineup notably includes a $13 USB Type-C to USB Adapter, capable of converting a full-sized USB plug into a USB-C plug, as well as a $13 USB Type-C to USB Cable, which could connect a computer with USB-C to a full-sized USB port on typical USB batteries, wall chargers, and hubs. We’ve seen a number of tech companies like Apple and Nomad contribute to COVID-19 relief in substantial ways. Now popular accessory maker Belkin is in the final stages of getting emergency ventilators into production to help health systems that need the life-saving device. Belkin shared the news in a press release today. The FlexVent Gas-Operated Ventilator is a single-use emergency device and has come to fruition through a partnership with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign....

Ben Schwartz, who voices the lead role in Sonic The Hedgehog, recently revealed he wrote a script for an adult version of The Goonies for Seth Rogen and Adam McKay. The Goonies, released in 1985, follows a group of friends who come across a treasure map that leads them on an adventure to find the massive fortune of the legendary pirate One-Eyed Willy. Along the way, the band of friends is pursued by a family of criminals set out to claim the treasure for themselves....

Apple gave an impressive look at ARM Mac graphics performance when it showed a Shadow of the Tomb Raider demo during its WWDC keynote.
