Apple today is rolling out a small update to its iMovie video editing software on the Mac. The update bumps the app to version 10.1.2 and follows an update that fixed YouTube sharing bugs and improved stability. Today’s update includes a couple of changes that improve navigation, as well as your standard bug fixes and stability improvements.
First off, Apple has made it easier to find the “New Project” button in the Projects browser and has also introduced something it is calling “fast project creation” to easily begin editing footage with a single click. Additionally, if you click a single video clip, the entire clip is now selected, whereas previously only a range of it was selected. There’s also a new keyboard shortcut for selecting the range of a clip in the browser and timeline. You can now simply hold down the R key while dragging to do so.
Finally, the update includes larger project thumbnails that better match that of iMovie on iOS and adds support for App Preview resolutions for iPad Pro and Apple TV.
