Applecare Could Be Making Its Way To Europe Shortly

A US exclusive warranty, AppleCare+ has been available for the iPhone and iPad to provide for accidental damage claims and general warranty protection. Now, the iGen blog is reporting [English] that AppleCare+ is making its way to Europe soon.

iGen’s source did not give any information about the pricing or availability, although the blog believes it will be just under €100 (plus the per-incident fee, which is $49 in the US).

AppleCare is no longer available as a physical box in Italy following an antitrust case, and in Belgium, a group filed a complaint against Apple for misleading customers with its warranty service. Apple has taken steps to make sure the AppleCare website outlines what is and is not included with the service and the inclusion of accidental damage coverage with AppleCare+ leads to happier customers.

Just a couple of days ago, Apple revamped its AppleCare support site and introduced 24/7 chat. The company appears to be providing a more solid infrastructure for its warranty and product support, and bringing AppleCare+ to Europe will allow it to take these efforts to a more global landscape. In addition, the new iPhone trade-in program will be another US-only program, possibly tested domestically then grown globally just like AppleCare+.
