Star of 90 Day Fiancé, Ashley Martson shares a picture of her at her lowest in 2019 after crying about her relationship woes with her ex-husband Jay Smith. In the caption, Ashley encourages her followers to keep moving forward in 2020 and that the tough times they are experiencing now will get better.
Ashley was introduced to TLC fans when she appeared on season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé. 31-year-old Ashley, from Pennsylvania, met 19-year-old Jay while she was vacationing in Jamaica. The relationship blossomed, the two were soon engaged, and their roller-coaster journey to the altar was documented on the show. Fans caught up with the couple in season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? when Ashley found out that Jay had slept with another woman the bathroom of his tattoo apprenticeship. She then immediately kicked him out and filed for divorce a second and final time back in April. The tumultuous relationship was watched by millions as their marriage unraveled. After months of Jay refusing to sign the divorce papers, he finally caved and signed, and in November Ashley celebrated her divorce being final.
Ashley posted a picture of her with her mascara smeared down her cheeks from tears. She tells her fans the story behind the photo, revealing that it was a photo accidentally taken on the night of her birthday party in New York City. That night, Jay had shown up, unexpectedly, for the celebration after they had split and filed for a divorce for the second and final time. She said that while the exchange between her and Jay was cordial and even nice, she broke down while in the Uber home. She said this was the night when she realized she had failed, writing, “I failed my marriage, myself, my children. My heart was broken into a million pieces and the walls completely caved in around me.” She said this was the lowest part of her life, writing, “I never felt a hurt like this in my life. Ever.” Ashley’s full Instagram post can be seen below:
She wrote a very touching message to her followers about how the pain of whatever struggle they’re going through is only temporary. She wrote, “I just want men and women to both know it’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to cry it out. It’s okay to not be strong all the time. It’s okay to fail. What’s not okay is to let it destroy you. You can, and you will, get back up and begin to pick up the pieces.” She admitted that “to this day” she’s still hurting about the divorce from Jay and even admitted that she still loves him. She continued to encourage her fans, “So all of you who are struggling please know these feelings are temporary and you will get back to yourself. Time truly does heal wounds.” She then revealed that this will be the last time she will speak about her marriage to Jay, saying she wants desperately “to start a new chapter and not look back.”
This year has been detrimental for Ashley, from finding out about Jay’s infidelity to getting a divorce in front of millions of 90 Day Fiancé fans. It seems that Ashely is in a healthier place - mentally, emotionally, and physically. Here’s hoping that 2020 will be better.
