Avengers: Endgame brings home the Screen Actor Guild Awards’ Best Action Ensemble. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with the script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the movie culminated the MCU’s Infinity Saga. It featured mostly all prominent characters in the franchise for an epic fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his minions.
Following 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, which left Earth’s Mightiest Hero’s at their lowest after their defeat from Thanos (Josh Brolin), Endgame had its work cut for it. Aside from ending the Infinity Saga, the film was also tasked with providing a deserved send-off to some of the MCU’s founding heroes such as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) which they did decently well. Overall, the public’s most memorable moments from it came from the third act battle, which helped Endgame nab a SAG Award this year.
Shared on Marvel Studios’ official Instagram account is a congratulatory post about Endgame’s recent win at the 26th Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture (Game of Thrones won the category for TV). The Marvel Studios project was in contention with James Mangold’s Ford v Ferrari, Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Todd Phillips’ Joker and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It’s the movie’s only SAG Awards nominations. Check out the social media post below:
Fans are obviously happy with the win, flocking the said post to send everyone involved their congratulatory messages. Many of them argued that it was a well-deserved win considering what Endgame was able to accomplish. Taking nothing away from the brilliant work that the other nominated films, the logistics of bringing to life the climactic battle scene required a lot from everyone involved in the production. Aside from crafting the sequence itself, there’s also the issue of scheduling for the actors featured. Admittedly, it’s not the most elegantly-done battle sequence (2012’s The Avengers’ may still have the best ensemble action set piece in the MCU), but the way they were able to pull off such an ambitious shot is still impressive.
While fans would obviously prefer seeing Avengers: Endgame rack more awards, especially individual accolades, it’s worth noting that ensemble acknowledgement is better for something as big as the said movie. This way, each person who worked tirelessly on the complex segment of it can have something to be immensely proud of. The actors and prominent filmmakers have been repeatedly lauded for their work, however, they’re not the only one who’s deserving of the credit. A lot more people worked their souls not just in the particular scene but the whole feature to deliver a satisfying conclusion.
