Bang & Olufsen has announced two new wireless speakers, featuring a conical design and 360-degree sound projection. Both speakers support Apple’s AirPlay – as well as Google Cast, DNLA and plain old Bluetooth – and are compatible with the company’s BeoLink system for multi-room setups.
B&O has a reputation for great aesthetics and hi-tech features as well as fantastic sound, and Engadget reports that you won’t be disappointed on this score …
The BeoSound 1 (left) comprises a 40-watt class D power amp driving a 1×1.5-inch full-range speaker, with a separate 20-watt class D amp powering the 4-inch woofer. It’s designed with portability in mind, incorporating a 16-hour rechargeable battery for totally wire-free use. The speaker is available now for $1495/£995.
Both the BeoSound 1 and 2 have proximity sensors that display the controls facing whichever side you approach the speaker from. The top functions as the volume control by spinning the wheel while swiping and tapping that panel handles all of the other commands.
The BeoSound 2 (right) is a mains-powered speaker with three class D amps and speaker pairs: a 40-watt 1×0.75-inch tweeter, an 11-watt 2×2-inch mid-range and a 20-watt 1×5.25-inch woofer. It will be available in October, priced at $1895/£1350.
