The Bachelor alum Tia Booth announced on social media that she has split from her boyfriend Corey Cooper after one year of dating. The Bachelor Nation alum and Cooper first made their relationship Instagram-official in November 2018.
Booth initially came into the Bachelor Nation world when she appeared on Arie Luyendyk’s season of the Bachelor, which aired in January 2018. Booth was known from the beginning thanks to her connection to fellow Bachelor Nation alum Raven Gates, who is one of Booth’s closest friends, and the two both hail from Arkansas. Booth was sent home during week 8 of Arie’s season, after bringing him to her hometown to meet her parents. The physical therapist was also briefly in a relationship with The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood before his season, and the pair gave it a second go during season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise, but ultimately decided they were better as friends. Not long after her time in Paradise, Booth began dating Cooper, a businessman, but that relationship has now come to an end.
On October 15, Booth announced on her Instagram (via Us Weekly) that she had split from Cooper, writing that “it’s so wild that I feel the need to share this but let’s rip off the bandaid… No, I am no longer in a relationship.” The Arkansas-native didn’t specify the reason behind the break up but said, “I am fine. He is fine. At this stage of life, we are better as friends.” Booth frequently posted pictures of the pair, however not much was known about Cooper, and Booth shared in her post that “[Corey] is a very private person, and will freak when he reads this,” but she said she couldn’t resist because she “wanted to address it” herself. The 28-year-old went on to talk about how “tricky” dating in the public eye can be because social media allows her to share “the highlight reel of my life with SO many people,” but private matters are “not so easy” to share, “especially when another person is involved.” You can read Booth’s full post below:
In August 2019, Booth’s relationship with her then-boyfriend came under fire from The Bachelor villain Chad Johnson when he went on a Twitter rampage against numerous Bachelor Nation members, which went on for multiple weeks. Johnson accused Booth of trying to hookup with Big Brother’s Corey Brooks while she was still in a relationship with Cooper. In a since-deleted tweet, her only response to the accusation was, “Why is Chad trying to be relevant? Did someone hack his account? Or is he really that big of a jackass?” Luckily, Bachelor Nation fans didn’t take Johnson’s claims too seriously considering he’s not much of a fan favorite contestant and is not exactly a reliable narrator. It wasn’t until Booth stopped posting pictures with Cooper that fans began to suspect that the couple had broken up.
Bachelor Nation alum have often talked about the difficulties that come with dating publicly. When you choose to become an influencer or go onto a television show in an attempt to find love, your fans or followers expect a certain level of transparency about your life, and influencers sometimes struggle to gauge how much to share online. As Booth said, Cooper is a private person, and it can be difficult to maintain a level of privacy when dating someone who has previously shared so much of their life with the public. Following her time on The Bachelor, Booth was considered to be the lead of The Bachelorette, so her split from Cooper could re-open that door for her in the future, if she’s ready to re-enter the Bachelor Nation world.
