Bachelor in Paradise star Demi Burnett met her girlfriend, Kristian Haggerty, through her Bachelor co-star Catherine Agro. The show recently changed the rules so the two women could pursue their relationship in Mexico.
Burnett and Haggerty are the first same-sex couple to be featured on Bachelor in Paradise - a Bachelor spinoff. Show creator Chris Harrison recently changed the rules to allow Haggerty to remain in Mexico and pursue Burnett, despite not being a member of Bachelor Nation. Haggerty surprised Burnett in Mexico last week on the show and the two had a tearful reunion - after which time Burnett ended things with cast member Derek Peth. More details are being found out about this mystery woman, like how the new couple met.
In an interview with People, Burnett said Haggerty lives with Agro, a contestant on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor, on which Burnett also appeared. She told the magazine she was at Agro’s house “hanging out” when she met Haggerty. While the two seem blissfully in love on Bachelor in Paradise, Burnett assured fans that they are “real people” with a “real relationship,” so it won’t be “all puppies and rainbows from here out.” She added, “there will be lots of tears.” Burnett also explained that the two would hand out roses each week just like every other couple.
So far, everything seems to be going well for the pair, who exchanged “I love yous” on their first one-on-one date. While they had a little fight on the last episode, because Haggerty got jealous watching Burnett hang out with John Paul Jones, they got through it quickly. Basically, Burnett laughed at the idea of ever being attracted to Jones. Later, she gave Haggerty her rose. And, fortunately for Burnett, she doesn’t have to feel too bad about ending things with Peth, as he’s already moved on with contestant Tayshia Adams.
By now, many Bachelor fans have heard the rumors that Burnett and Haggerty end up engaged at the end of this season, but it’ll be interesting to see what relationship obstacles the two encounter along the way - and who else ends up popping the question. Fans will have to keep watching to find out what happens to this adorable couple.
