The Bachelorette star Mike Johnson says he’s done spilling any more details about his romance with Demi Lovato. During Mike’s season on ABC’s hit reality TV show, Lovato cheered him on while he competed for Hannah Brown’s heart. Sadly, Johnson didn’t win the love of the pageant queen, but he did catch the attention of an even bigger star. When the cameras stopped rolling, the pop singer ended up going on a date with Johnson. Later on a podcast, Johnson praised Lovato for her tattoos and kissing skills.
Back in September, a source told Us Weekly that the pair’s relationship wasn’t anything serious and Lovato was “broadening her horizons.” The air force vet admitted that he was ready for a more serious relationship now. The 32-year-old expressed that he doesn’t want to be in the running for the next Bachelor in 2020, saying that if the ABC production team asks him, he can always say no to the opportunity. As for his relationship with Lovato, however, he’s not saying much.
Johnson told Us Weekly that he’s keeping things more low-key since spilling some beans about their relationship on a podcast. The Texas native said he’s done dating in the public eye - for now. He aims to keep any further details about his past relationship with Lovato “100 percent” to himself from now on. Johnson gave a non-answer when asked about his current relationship status with the pop star, but he did say the two are definitely on good terms with each other. That said, he did end up praising Lovato, saying that she was “a beautiful individual inside and out.”
The Bachelorette fan-favorite said he doesn’t like to speak on certain topics often. Johnson says he’s a human being who’s not perfect, but is definitely learning from his mistakes. “They say geniuses learn from the mistakes of others and intelligent people learn from their own mistakes. I’m not a genius. I want to be intelligent. Therefore, I messed up and I’m going to try not to let that happen again,” he said.
Johnson was also on season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise, where he went on a date with Caelynn Miller-Keyes. He also had a brief fling with dancer Sydney Lotuaco. Love in the public eye has not been doing the Bachelorette alum very well, so maybe it’s a good idea to be more private with his relationships.
Ironically, Johnson’s statement about keeping his future relationships more private came just after his appearance on Monday morning’s episode of Strahan, Sara & KeKe, where he asked out actress Keke Palmer. Right after Johnson said he doesn’t like to date in public, he asked out the cohost on national TV. The Hustlers star was taken off guard by Johnson’s public move. She avoided the question and immediately asked her other cohosts, Michael Strahan and Sara Hines, what the next questions were so that they could skip to the next topics (awkward). So, maybe Johnson hasn’t started his new policy just yet?
