Justice League’s Batman reacts to the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok before both movies open in November this year. Throughout the years, there has been a friendly rivalry between DC and Marvel, and this competition has only risen in the aftermath of both companies forming cinematic universes. The rise of comic book movies has brought up this rivalry between fans, with even some cast members of the various sides adding fuel to the fire. While the higher ups involved continue to say that they wish the best for the other as it will hopefully only increase the interest in their films as well, Marvel and DC have yet to truly square off on the big screen.
The closest they’ve come was the brief period when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War were slated to debut on the same day. Ultimately, BvS moved up a few weeks, but this November Thor: Ragnarok will debut just two weeks ahead of Justice League. The latter has been in marketing mode since last year, but Marvel just launched the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok - and is already the biggest Disney trailer ever. Understandably, Batman (Ben Affleck) is none too pleased in one fan video.
Movieclips spoofed Batman’s reaction by using footage from BvS. The Ragnarok trailer evokes a reaction that is rather worrisome for Bruce. Thanks to Tony Stark’s taunting email that led to Batman watching the trailer, he promptly forwards it to Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) as well, who is rather irritated by the competition.
This video is simply made for the fun of doing so and should not be taken too seriously. After all, Justice League recently debuted a trailer that was equally as well received as Ragnarok, so if anything, the iron sharpens iron approach could work in Justice League’s favor. This is assuming Ragnarok is a critical and financial hit, but both films also feature similarly stacked casts.
Ragnarok not only features Chris Hemsworth back in the lead, but also sees Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Hela (Cate Blanchett), Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Heimdall (Idris Elba), Skurge (Karl Urban), Odin (Anthony Hopkins), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and more. Justice League meanwhile sees Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) join Batman and Wonder Woman in their first team up. No matter what side of the DC/Marvel “rivalry” someone sides on, it is clear that November is shaping up to be a rather stellar month for comic book fans.
