Autodesk today released a new version of its popular Sketchbook painting and drawing app that introduces a single app for both tablets and smartphones alongside new features. Launching today on both iOS and Android the new SketchBook app has a streamlined UI and a number of new features and improvements over previous versions of the app. The company highlighted a few of the new features: -Layer blending modes including glow and soft glow -Selection tools for manipulating, transforming, and drawing within specific parts of the image -All new brushes, including a set of synthetic and smudge brushes (a top community-requested addition) -Dynamic flood fill tools with solid, linear and radial gradients -A completely redesigned and customizable UI including the combined Brush and Color Puck enhancements -An enhanced gallery for an easy way to view, organize and manage sketches -Optimized for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iOS8...

Belkin has today made its newest 10W wireless chargers available, the Boost Up Charging Pad and Boost Up Charging Stand. The new offerings are available in three colors and the stand model brings a unique design to the market. Apple CEO Tim Cook announced today during the company’s earnings call that Best Buy will gain support for Apple Pay in its iOS app today and will begin accepting it in retail stores later this year. Best Buy’s decision is big news because the electronics chain was previously part of the coalition of companies working on the ill-received “Current-C” mobile payment system. Apple has just released a new version of Beats Music for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that adds the ability to migrate from the subscription music service to Apple Music which replaces it. The migration assistant keeps both playlists and saved music from artists and albums intact when moving to Apple Music. Apple notes that once a Beats Music account is converted to an Apple Music account, the previously existing Beats Music account is permanently cancelled....

Still no Apple Pay in stores at Target just yet, but Apple Watch will be joining the lineup of iPhones and iPads in select stores this week – and all stores by October 25th. Target operates over 1800 stores across the United States, greatly expanding the points-of-sale for Apple Watch going into the holiday quarter. Aside from the couple hundred Apple Stores in the US, Apple Watch has been sold in a few premium vendors plus Best Buy, T-Mobile, and Sprint… Between Target picking up Apple Watch at select stores this week and all stores by the end of the month, the retailer says it will also begin selling Apple’s wearable online at target....

As we reported last year, Apple has begun offering a new way for customers to discover its subscription services through QR codes and NFC tags in some of its retail stores. With iOS 14.5, which is expected to be released to the public later this month, the company plans to expand this interaction with custom notifications to services like Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, and Apple Music. In addition, with the help of Sony Erricsson/Silicon Partners, ARM will be demonstrating multi-core processor Cortex A9 processor technology that will be used in 2010 running SymbianOS. The company said it will show a low-power Cortex chip manufactured using IBM’s 32-nanometer process that could bring features like full 1080p high-definition video to smartphones while drawing less power. The chip will be shown at the GSMA Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona from Monday to Thursday....

Last year, AT&T rolled out a test phase of its new Digital Life home automation and security suite. Starting today, the company will be rolling out the final product in 15 markets. The system is launching in Atlanta, Austin, Texas, Boulder, Colo., Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Riverside, Calif., San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and select areas of the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.
