Apple is speaking out against the Environmental Protection Agency’s plan to repeal efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Reuters reports. In a new filing, Apple cites “increased investment uncertainty” for the company and its supplier partners if the Clean Power Plan is reversed. The Clean Power Plan was originally proposed by the previous EPA under President Obama back in 2014. President Trump signed an executive order to review the plan, however, and later decided the Clean Power Plan would not be implemented....

AT&T’s SVP of Emerging Devices Chis Penroseannounced today at GigaOM’s Mobilize conference that the carrier is introducing a new $5 a day plan for tablet users. Available for your 3G and LTE iPads (and other AT&T compatible tablets of course), AT&T’s $5 data pass will offer a cheaper alternative to expensive hotel WiFi for travellers and others that only need a day or two worth of data. The plan will give users 250MB a day and AT&T says it will make it easy for customers to purchase the data sessions online directly on their iPad....

While previously the company had been primarily relying on the 850 MHz band that offers a more robust signal, including superior indoor reception, company technicians confirmed to OFB that transmitters for the 2G signal used by the original iPhone and most other handsets, including most AT&T offered BlackBerry and RAZR models, have been shifted to the weaker 1900 MHz band in some areas....

Apple today has quietly updated its Beats Pill+ app with support for the iPhone X’s display. The update is the first to come to the app since October of last year and brings it to version 1.7. AT&T today announced that it will be the “first U.S. mobile company to introduce mobile 5G service in a dozen markets by late 2018.” The carrier made the announcement in a press release, saying it worked to push for standards acceleration during 2017…. AT&T says that its 5G service will be based on industry standards and notes that it remains focused on the “long-term vision” of 5G, as well. AT&T hasn’t said which markets it will launch mobile 5G in during 2018 just yet, but expect the normal metropolitan areas to get it first....
